On the advice of my sister, I visited Krash in Newcastle ('cause ""it's where all the goths go to be scary", apparently), which is open on Saturdays from Nine.
Unfortunately, it seemed to be dominated by the eyeline and poser brigade- all emo, pop-punk and nu metal. The only "true" metal band I heard (Rammstein do NOT count!) was Metallica- and it was Fuel, so it wasn't exactly a majestic steel anthem. I recognised some of the songs from RockSoc (that one about bodies hitting the floor- which, incidentally, is a naff song, dominated by a repetitive and obviousl chorus and sceaming(ooh, controversy!)), so I wasn't completely afloat, and Hot for Teacher and something by AC/DC got played, so I shall return at a later date and see if it sucks less.

I need to check out Moshulu in Aberdeen, supposed to be the only half way decent rock club in Aberdeen.

I returned to Krash. Apart from being chatted up by lesbains (?!?!), it was much the same. They use the same DJs every week who play "punk" (i.e. not Punk- Sex Pistols, Ramones etc.- but emo) and, very occasionally (every twentieth song) "metal" (the aforementioned Body song). So, no, not good...
