Ok, a track just came on, and I'm thinking, you really don't hear much mention of these guys. OK, they weren't around for that long (late 80s to mid 90s), but they did some pretty good stuff. Also, their guitarist, Nuno Bettencourt, is one of the worlds best - Paul Gilbert has himself said how much respect he has for his abilities - if you haven't heard them, they are a bit like a Van Halen modernisation with a touch more of a metal feel, and maybe a tad of GNR in places.

Its a shame that Extreme were based purely on more than words, which is sad really because Nuno was a great guitarist and there heavy stuff rules... roll on pornograffitti

there were good at the time but i wouldnt class them as classic rock. to start with they were a hair metal band but changed with each album. stop the world off the 3 sides album is still one of my fave songs. no one could call waiting for the punchline classic rock could they

I agree they aren't classic rock, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put them, and I wouldn't really call them metal...they always remind me a bit of van halen (obviously nowhere near as great)...and remember Gary Cherone, their singer, went on to be Van Halen's singer for a while before Sammy Hagar came back!

Flight of The Wounded Bumblebee says it all. Nuno is a god. Extreme had some of the best riffage of all time, some of the riffs even sounded like Pantera (different vocal style obviously though)

I love them just for being on the Bill & Ted soundtrack. Anyone ever notice the similarities between 'Play With Me' and 'Warheads'?
