I saw Rock Star yesterday at silly o'clock. It tells the tale of a man (Mark Walberg, unfortunately) who sings in a metal tribute band to "Steel Dragon". When this band's lead singer (named Bobbie. i.e. Robert. Or Rob...) leaves, they get Walberg to replace him. And he goes on to fufill his childhood ambition of playing with his chldhood metal heroes. So, the former lead singer is called Robert, magazines appear in the film called "Metal God". Does this sound at all remniscent of a certain band? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judas_priestWhat the film doesn't tell is what happens afterwards, when the replacement is lamented as woefully inadequate, then gets replaced by the genius original, but goes on to be the awesome frontman of an obscure American thrash/power metal band and steal the show on their best album to date...
