you're a twat. Don't think I've ever been called that before. You do indeed tkae no shit- well done, sir! Worthy of Power_Metal_Dom, that comeback... I was only trying to create debate- Dream Theatre seem a bit.. empty. Like a pop synth group with guitar solos. Making songs last ten minutes doesn't make them intelligent (ask Iced Earth). Nor do concept albums (again, Iced Earth...). Mind, I only have two albums- both released after they are supposed to have sold out, I believe. I do not claim to be an expert- but DT have not exactly grabbed my interest. I wanted them to- they havn't. So please, convince me I am wrong.

Would it be sensible to expect any better from you, me and Mike?

Yeah...
Maybe you should prod H in this threads direction? He loves DT and seems to be able to provide fairly decent, knowledgable agruments when it comes to music...

I would be better informed, if I actually listened to DT. But I don't want to. Bcause they are boring.

Oh dear. What albums do you have? And comparing them to Iced Earth is a bit silly because Iced Earth are shit. And concept albums certainly didn't hurt Pink Floyd's career. The thing about Dream Theater is that you have 4 of the most talented musicians on the planet (and James LaBrie) playing some stunningly co-ordinated music. Also your liking of Dream Theater albums will depend on your music taste, as a lot are very different - for example I would give Train of Thought to a metal fan whereas Images and Words to a more proggy person.

1.I once beleived Iced Earth to be shit. This is no longer the case. I hold up my hands and admit I was wrong. So I am not so stubborn as to be beyond changing my mind. 2. For the record, I have Images And Words and Scenes From A Memory, as they were the ones on sale. 3. I just think that DT sound like a pop band with the odd guitar solo. But I sall be fai- i'll listen to them again, see if I change my mind. Let it not be said I am not willing to lsiten to arguments!

oh dear. I think this one needs help. Such a shame... Hey! No fair! Anyway, how exacly are DT "progressive"? What about them are progressive? Pink Floyd are progresive. heck, Stratovarius are more progressive! DT are a pop band with an electric guitarist. How exactly are they "progressing"- what are they doing that is exactly "new"? The instrumentals, whilst cool, remind me of he Black Mages, who whislt awesome, are not exactly on the cutting edge of novelty... I would also dispute them being "metal", given that neither their vocals or keyboards are even slightly metal, their bass and drums merely rocky and the guitar-work distinctly second rate. So, are DT even "Progressive Metal"? 'cause I can name a dozen thrash, death or power metal bands that beter suit that definition. Hey, look at me, I've created musical discussion! Not just spamming...
