Ok let's make this a film scores thread. What are your favourites? Do prefer thematic John Williams type marches or more fluid pieces? N.B This is not a soundtrack thread (a soundtrack being a collection of pre written pop/metal songs, whereas score is orchestral, and written for the film)
I haave to say one of my favourites (and I own a fair few soundtracks/scores) is the Incredibles score - fucking epic James Bond style jazz man, it's awsome. Although the "Revenge of The Sith" is Williams best score ever, dark as post Guiness shit, turning every single major Star Wars theme into something forboding and sad. Oh and the fucking opera scene music is something else man.
Is it me or is Danny Elfman shit? All his scores have that same gay twinkly-ness and sound the fucking same!

I do like John Williams, and I can always notice when he has written the score for a film, he just has his identifiable style. I also liked what Howard Shore did on lord of the rings. One thing ive been hoping for is a sort of metal film soundtrack sometime - wouldn't it be cool if they let DT write the score or something...meh...

Yeah it would - I know it's not the same but Trent Reznor oversaw the soundtracks to "natural Born Killers" and "Lost Highway" and they definately bear his own unique stamp.
And (you'll hear me mention this alot) Fantomas have down two fantastic albums - one ("The Director's Cut") a load of heavy metal covers of film themes, and the other ("Delirium Cordia") a complete film score, but with no accompnying film. Both I say are pretty much required listening if you're a fan of film scores and soundtracks.
Oh and Fantomas are: Dave Lombardo on drums, Trevor Dunn on Bass (Mr Bungle), Buzz Osborne (The Melvins) on guitar and Mike Patton writing, arranging, singing and playing keyboards.

One of the few soundtracks I go back to time and time again is the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack. Love that album

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children has a fantastic soundtrack. A kind of cross between orchestral, metal and dance. ;D

In the UK? No. However it hasn't exactly prevented people getting hold of it

Its not like anyone who wants to see Advent Children itself has been eagerly awaiting the DVD release and hasn't seen it five times already, oh dear me no...
Do Square want to go bust?

Well I don't have it on my computer...ahem...but I am waiting for the DVD eagerly cos I want it DUBBED...I HATE FUCKING SUBTITLES...I know this is contrary to the preference of most anime fans, as my girlfriend keeps telling me...but all I find myself doing when I watch it is shouting at the screen saying SPEAK IN FUCKING ENGLISH FOR GODS SAKE...ahem...well that little outburst was me explaining why I AM quite looking forward to the DVD.

^^That's just sad, I get pissed off if they do dub the movie into english myself. It's just laziness watching dubbed movies

Meh...I suppose if its a live action japanese film or something it just looks silly, and hence subtitles would be better, but I just prefer to hear things in my own language - I am absolutely useless at any other language - I like english - its the language I speak - I am comfortable with it, and hence I prefer to hear movies in english.

I can understand that, but what I really really hate is they make no effort to take into account accents. If you watch a jap movie that is dubbed into english it is normally very english english, it spoils the feel of the movie.
They could at least get someone to dub it who will use proper accents for it.
