Agreed - but when it comes to advent children, who says the characters are japanese, and not american or english? As a matter of fact they are neither, and come from a fantasy world where people, in reality would probably speak some unknown language, with some strange accent, as so you see my feelings on this...being a gigantic fan of the games, I have always envisaged the characters as english speakers, so there we go.

My preference is for subs, mainly because anime dubs (in general) suck. Manily because they use voice actors with annoying american accents. I believe Barret is supposed to sound like Mr. T, Yuffie Native American (ish). Not sure about the others. Also I like the sound of Japanese

This has turned into an Advent Children thread. That was quick.
Yuffie's a ninja. She's about as Native American as I am. Red XIII is Native American. Barret is almost offensively like Mr. T.
The characters are neither English or Japanese. Its a game. the creators, however, are Japanese and concieved the story in Japanese, so one should respect their original interpretation.
Also, the voice cast is the same as Kingdom heart's is- Rachel Leigh Cook as Tifa (groans!).

How exactly is Yuffie a ninja? She lacks all the key components of a ninja, ninka mask, ninja skills, ninja sword, shuriken...

Go back to the game - look where Yuffie comes from - Wutai - clearly asian...plus i think her weapon thingy is pretty close to a shuriken...ok shes not your textbook ninja, but shes not far off...

Alas, Chris hasn't acctually played the game, so give him some credit. I believe officially Yuffie is categorised as "Shinobi", rather than the conventional Western idea of a ninja. Anyway, she has the FF class ninja, so she's a ninja. So there.
No idea what Red XIII is, though...

Just to derail the FFVII (as I'm possibly the only serious gamer who's never played it. Had the bloody end of disc one spoiled for me too. RAGE) but awsome MGS3 avatar.

Yes, anyway, back when this was a music thread... the soundtrack to Azumi is rather cool, although why they have powercords in sixteenth century Japan is beyond me. And obviously., when Queen do the score, its invariably awesome (Highlander, Flash Gordon etc.)
Danny Elfman... hmm... a ot of his stuff does sound very samey. Except Batman. Gotta love Batman.
And cheers, Jez! Hammertime indeed! Or Hammerfalltime, if you're Brother Munro...

Yeah I'm a big game geek, it's worrying really. The MGS series is one of my favourites of all time, yes even 2!

And cheers, Jez! Hammertime indeed! Or Hammerfalltime, if you're Brother Munro... Hell Yeah! What were we talking about again? ;D Whilst I'd never say I was a hardcore gamer I do like my gaming, though my attitude towards stealth games tends to be along the lines of "If everyone who saw or heard me is dead, and everyone I can find is also dead, I have been stealthy".

(Going off topic, except that MGS also has an awesome score.) Nowt wrong with 2. Admittedly it isn't a "game" as much as a film...
