I know two people in real life who like St. Anger, one is a new Metallica fan (as in one who likes Black Album onwards) and the other likes all Metallica regardless (though will admit St. Anger is Metallica's least good album). I've made a discussion/poll on Metallica ( A Classic Poll)

To put a halt to this silliness - I don't like it, you don't like it Mike, but people are perfectly entitled to like it...I have given the reasons I dont like it, but that doesn't make it wrong to like it. People have different tastes...

<Whispers> *St. Anger sucks*
Anyway...
I've nver heard Trivium, but given that they're going to be supporting A Certain Other Band, I guess we'll all appreciate them come the end of the year...

H why choose a video of them covering Metallica? Surly the video for "Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr" (which is also on google video) would have been better, as it's their signature song, and what certainly got me in to them. Blew my head off when I first heard it, great mix of hardcore and clean vocals, a fucking BLAZING dueling solo, and some of the most killer riffs on the planet. Especially that intro - it can make men wet,

Matt Heafy looks like he should be in TV ad for mens leg wax or something equally gay.
Seriously he turns into more of a pretty boy every time he is seen.
He should give up metal and go join some crappy boy band where he can do his deep and meaningful looks and wear really tight trousers all the time.

He doesn't look pretty to me. He looks like he should be an extra for one of the Harry Potter films if you ask me. Looks a bit of a twat. I'm not taken on the verses too much but when you listen through a song or two you suddenly feel a sudden urge to pick up your guitar and wank away.
I'd much rather see a proper Trivium gig than a bloody Maiden one.

I like Trivium, my kind of music: fast, loud and some fucking kick ass double bass drum parts, and kerrang! claimed them to be the new Iron Maiden!!! I know that they'll be supporting Iron Maiden on their UK tour, and most people I know in college, most of them listen to Maiden in some form, all feel the SECC gig is going to be go downhill because of Trivium. The equation they've came up with is one of the two:
Maiden fans + Trivium fans= Chaos OR Trivium fans= Dicks!!!
I have had no say in the matter since I like both so I have tried to stay far away from the disscusion of the aformentioned subject of the gig in question, lees I hear about it, the better.

Okay, so, I bought Ascendancy today, to see what Trivium are like, given that everyone is talking about them like they're the new Maiden, and obviously because they're supporting he acual Maiden come december. Now, what i'm going o say will probably upset people, especially after my feelings on Dream Theatre were aired elsewhere, so Trivium fans look away now:
Trivium aren't very good.
More accurately, Matt Heafy isn't very good. All was well in the instrumental opener, and in the intro to rain, then he opened his mouth and I was very, very disappointed to find Trivium's vocals are a Nu-Metal/Cookie Monster hybrid. And it was painful. It sunk was otherwise a rather cool album- better than, say Dragonforce or a lot of oter popular bands. it was especially disappointing after hearing their rendition of Master of Puppets- I assumed their own vocals were like that.
Someone, tell me I'm wrong- tell me Ascendency is Trivium's St. Anger or something. I want to like Trivium, I do, but I can sing better than this guy!
