Yet another band that would be best served firing their vocalist then?

Unfortunately, he's also the chief song writer and guitarist, so it would be like sacking Steve Harris- they kind of need him...
See, I like vocals- I want to be able to sing along. But Trivium's lyrics are far too... well, emo (the enemy of all true metal!). And poorly delivered to boot.
Maybe he'll realise he sucks and pull a Kai Hansen and just d guitars. Or beter yet, pull a Kai Hansen and leave the band for no good reason and leave them dangling in mediocrity...

Heafy's voice is actually so much better live - as its all song as one voice rather than the cookie monster hybrid one and normal voice. Its kind of a mix and sounds a lot better.
And Kerrang don't know shit. They suck. They're all emo and gay now.

And Kerrang don't know shit. They suck. They're all emo and gay now. Well said. Never a truer word And having listened to it a bit more, I present the following conclusions: The guitar works are fine. Vey good, infact. The lyrics ae better than amny bands. And the vocals are fine when he's not trying to be the Cookie Monster (during choruses and such). A bit emo, sure, and not he bes tin the world, but thrash (for I deem Trivium to be thrash, and therefore True Metal) is not known for fantastico vocals- Hetfireld and even Mustaine are not that great, but they are appropriate. Gritty. Heafy's voals sink completely what are actually a kick-ass band- durinfg the awesome instrmentals and solos, I got out my air Gibson and strummed along happily. But when the vocals started, I physically winced. Trivium could be fickin' awesome. If he sang rather than screamed.

I disagree entirely. Heffy's screaming is part of Trivium's charm. And I decree you are in no position to talk about harsh vocals, as we all know your general distaste for them. It would be like me mentioning Power Metal.

It would be like me mentioning Power Metal. Crap, it's Jez! Everyone look busy! You are not entirely without point there- the screaming does seem to be part of the bands act and the nu metal genre. but everytime the singing starts, I instinctively wince- just the vocals, not the rest- they just seem wrong. As for my personal distaste- any band that would have itself hailed as "the new Maiden" should not alienate part of the metal crowd- including power metal, which The Beast practically sired ("Aaaleeexaaaaaander the Greeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaat!" etc). Everyone likes Maiden, whether clad in spikes, dungarees or a loincloth. Trivium can't claim their breadth of support, and I found them (more accurately him) disappointing after all the hype made.

Well they're more thrash orientated than Maiden, which I'd say puts them closer to Metallica which does feature a more harsh vocal style. Anyhoo much to my disapointment Heffy has dropped the harsh vocals entirely and gone for a more Hetfield style of harsh singing. Oh well at least I still have Bullet For My valentine for my metal screaming and boy band choruses. Oh and call Trivium nu-metal again and I'll kill you. They're thrash damnit!

I believe I did previously deem they were thrash. And they are. The vocals are not. Unless they are in imitation of Slayer, who don't count on grounds of sucktitude (teh Mustaine says so, it must be so).
And Hetfield Lyrics? W00t! Problem solved- I shall further investimigate their work.
I saw Bullet For My Valentine last week, odly, in support of "Guns N' Roses".
They suck. Hard.

I really don't know what to think about Trivium. I do like them and enjoy listening to them occasionally. But they just really annoy me for some reason. They just get boring after a while i guess.
1 word... meh!
